When did you first start wakeboarding?
The first time I ever stepped on a wakeboard I was three. My uncle came back to the cottage with some weird wakeboard thing and wanted to try it out, I think it was a 141 Blindside with sandal bindings. Him and my dad tried forever but couldn’t get up. I begged them so much that they finally let me try hoping I’d fall and never want to do it again but I popped right up and was hooked! I started getting into it when I was five or six though.
What was your first wakeboard?
The first one I owned was a 124 Hyperlite Voyager with Badass bindings.....That’s actually what they were called.
Who’s a part of your riding crew?
This past year it was my bro’s at Basecamp, but my favourite person to ride with is Dary Znebal. Were at a pretty similar level so we push each other real hard! I also try to get out and ride with Andy Milovanovic and Gav Hicks whenever I can!
What’s your best trick wakeboarding?
Best trick? Umm I do pretty sick fashion airs to blind.... Naw just kidding, I probably don’t have a best trick, I’ve got a few mobes and hit one seven, more to come!
What’s your best trick barefooting?
Wow, umm probably the wipe outs. My brothers pretty sick at it so I went out and learned one time with him but spent most of the time eating it! haha
Spin or Flip?
Umm probably like spinning toe 3?s and landing wrapped.
Hot Dog or Hamburger?
My mom’s homemade burgers can’t be beat. And have you ever watched Hot Dog’s on how it’s made? Pretty nasty stuff!
Board at dawn or dusk?
Well since I’m never up at dawn, I gotta go with dusk. But the few times I have ridden at dawn have been pretty rad!
Best moment on the water?
Any time learning a new trick is the best moment. That’s what keeps me coming back for more!
Best contest result?
Uhh did pretty well at Provincials this year, came third overall and nationals I was third in Junior Mens.
Can you tell us about the Rib Eating Contest you won in Sarnia?
Hopefully my mom doesn’t read this.....but what the hell! So we were in Sarnia for the Wake Up Call and everyone went to the bar. Being underage, I found myself at the local carnival and saw a really cool rib eating trophy that somehow ended up back in my room..............I think that was the same night Andy got beat up! hahaha
Tell us a bit about the new wake film you were recently featured in:
Militia V, National Defence. Go buy a copy! But ya, it was my first real part so I’m pretty stoked, didn’t get to film half as much as I would have liked to, but Andrew Curr still found a way to make me look good!
Shout outs?
Where do I start? Eric Snidal first off, who’s been like a father to me in the industry and helped me with almost everything I’ve accomplished! My family, who have been behind me every step of the way, especially my dad and brother who pulled me countless hours and put up with all my fits when I wasn’t riding well! Nate and Risto and everyone else at Billabong and VonZipper Canada, Mike at Hyperlite, everyone at Pride Marine Group, anyone who’s helped me along the way and all the bro’s at Basecamp. I probably missed a million people. You know who you are! Thanks!
